Probotector (Contra: Hard Corps) - Mega Drive Gameplay - Story Mode - 720P
5Gameplay footage of the PAL/EU release of Contra: Hard Corps which was renamed and rebranded as PROBOTECTOR for the Sega Mega Drive.
This version is a hacked PAL edition and brings back in the 3 Life Bar meter which is present in the Japanese release of the game which was oddly REMOVED for the NTSC/PAL editions.
Contra: Hard Corps is a rather odd game in that it was changed quite a fair bit upon release for rather strange reasons....
The PAL/EU release of the game got censored and it changed the main cast from being 1 robot/2 Humans/Beast Kin to being 4 robots instead. The game would also have a name change from Contra: Hard Corps to PROBOTECTOR.
Several events and interactions between characters were also changed when compared to the other versions and what's even more stupider is right at the very end it ignores the whole robots route its been going for for 90% of the game and if you choose this route (as shown in the video) the last level is all about the Alien Wars.
In japan the game was released as Contra: Hard Corps. In that game you had several continues and a 3 hit life bar.
The NTSC edition of the game (American release) removed the life bar meaning 1 hit and you died. This was BELIVED to have been done as a means of screwing customers over if they rented the game - IE making the game about as hard as chewing on broken glass without cutting your gums hard. This way with the difficulty ramped up and 1 hit = death it means your going to need to rent it out several times in order to complete it.
