With the recent surge in tourism in Halibut Creek, money is pouring in for Accipiter Airlines, the primary aviation company operating out of Dunlin Metropolitan Airport. For decades those in charge have wanted to advertise their brand and now with these newfound profits they can put that money toward building an aviation museum just down the highway from the airport. Named after the esteemed pilot, the Captain Hawking Air and Space Museum has now opened at the edge of Halibut Creek after many years' wait!

Pull in off the highway to refuel, either with gasoline or a meal at Penny's or the Koi Fish Chinese restaurant. Let your dog stretch his legs in the pet area before walking over to see the massive jet on display. An ice cream plaza and carousel are open to provide fun for the kids while the parents take a break from driving. The museum itself is divided into two parts. The first, focusing on traditional aviation, features displays of aircraft dating to the early 1930s. Several larger planes are mounted on display behind the building with areas to stop and sit or eat while you enjoy the flowers. Further on sits the Aquila Space Adventure where exhibits are on display covering the history of the U.S. space program over the past 60 years. The central column features a simulator allowing visitors to feel what it is like to really blast off in a rocket. A playground is nearby with picnic seating, and a short nature trail runs behind the building.

This build was partially influenced by the Evergreen Aviation and Space Museum in McMinnville, Oregon. It also features two buildings, one for aircraft and another for space projects, and has a full-sized airliner on display out front with many smaller ones around the back and sides of the building. A water park is on site for more entertainment, but in lieu of that I opted for the carousel and mini-rest stop aesthetic of a dog park, gas station, and restaurants. Evergreen houses the original Hughes H-4 Hercules (perhaps better known as The Spruce Goose). What does Captain Hawking have that can possibly compete with that? You'll just have to come visit to find out for yourself!

As usual this is a vanilla build, aside from my own parking lot asset, some beautiful trees and flowers created by MrMaison and pdelmo, and the BOB mod to display them as part of some buildings.
