Just east of the Blancmanche Waterfront sits the sunny and tropical Ahiru Island. It is the home to many sights, the most prominent being the Takebayashi Shrine. Here people can come to admire the sakura trees in spring, visit the Japanese garden, or tour the inside of the pagoda. Behind the shrine trails snake through the bamboo forest after which the area is named. On the residential side of the island are many luxurious homes and apartment suites, but perhaps the most visually stunning building is the colorful dance institute, specializing primarily in ballet. It is the first sight people will see as they cross over to the island from the western mainland. People can either follow Blancmanche's bicycle path as it becomes a cycling bridge, or ride the subway from downtown as it emerges into the open and passes across Ahiru before once again disappearing beneath ground.
