Capture One In 2 Minutes - EIP Packing: The feature you probably don't use but should enable today.
In this series, we will explore Capture One tips, tricks, and quick tutorials, all in about 2 minutes or so. I dedicate this series to those looking to move from Lightroom or are a bit confused by all of the user interface options Capture One offers to those looking to get the most from their photography.
In this episode, we take a close look at one of the features in Capture One I feel everyone should have enabled, and that is Packing as EIP. If you are a session user (as this does not work in catalogs), you can save yourself a lot of headaches by combining your image changes with the RAW in a non-proprietary format, known as EIP. This "Enhanced Image Package" is just a zip file, so nothing weird you need to worry about years from now (unlike others that might come to mind ;-). This is also a great feature if you outsource your editing to someone external and need to include your settings, ICC profile, lens cast corrections, and of course the RAW file. Even catalog users can pack images for this purpose and then unpack them when they get them back. A very cool feature with the added benefit of being able to see the quick preview in Windows Explorer as well as the MAC OS.
