Carcassonne is a square shaped tile laying game which has featured in many players board game collections for years. It has especially been used as a gateway game to introduce new or beginning players to modern board gaming. It is a simple game that has a lot of strategy and also has a great puzzly nature to it.

NOTE: A review copy of the game was kindly provided by the publisher.

Land and Sea is a tile placement game that has reshaped and pavced a new pathway into gaming. Land Vs Sea introduces double sided hex tiles that players can use to close of seas or land spaces. One player will act as the land player and the other acting as the sea player. Whenever a section of sea is closed, the sea player scores. If a land area is closed, the land player scores. That is just the base game.

The advanced game introduces many other ways to score including chaining corals and mountains together, scoring trade routes through caravans and ships, using waypoint markers as well as awarding bonus points for players who close certain areas.

The simple game is deceptively puzzling and is probably the best 2 player game I have played this year.

The Board Game Sanctuary is a family friendly board game channel that aims to introduce the board gaming hobby to new and seasoned players in a light, fun and humourous way.
