9Castlevania 64 (1999) is the first 3D entry in the Castlevania series, released for the Nintendo 64. Players control either Reinhardt Schneider, a whip-wielding vampire hunter, or Carrie Fernandez, a young sorceress with powerful magic, as they navigate Dracula’s cursed castle. The game features platforming, puzzle-solving, and combat against classic monsters, all set in a gothic horror atmosphere. While praised for its eerie ambiance and music, Castlevania 64 received mixed reviews for its camera system and controls. Despite its flaws, it remains a unique and ambitious take on the franchise’s transition to 3D.
In this playthrough, I first play as Reinhardt and then as Carrie. I'm aware that if you spend 30K or more with Renon, the demon merchant, he transforms into a secret boss, but I couldn’t bring myself to farm for that much money. The game isn’t that bad—I just hope I can beat the other N64 entry sooner or later!
