Riou is captured by the Mercenary forces of City-States of Jowston but gradually earns the trust of his former enemies. Meanwhile, Jowy is caught during an attempt to rescue him. Determined to break free, the two friends make another daring escape and find themselves fleeing through the treacherous North Sparrow Pass, accompanied by three traveling performers. Facing numerous challenges along the way, they finally reach Kyaro, their hometown.

Suikoden II (幻想水滸伝II, Gensō Suikoden II) is a 1998 JRPG developed by Konami for the PlayStation. Directed by Yoshitaka Murayama, with character designs by Fumi Ishikawa and a soundtrack composed by Miki Higashino, the game is a direct sequel to Suikoden (1995). It expands upon its predecessor’s turn-based combat, large-scale army battles, and strategic war gameplay while retaining the “108 Stars of Destiny” recruitment system. Set in the war-torn Dunan region, the story follows the protagonist and his best friend Jowy as they find themselves on opposing sides of a brutal conflict. The game received widespread acclaim for its emotional storytelling, deep political narrative, and well-developed characters. Though it had a modest initial release, Suikoden II gained cult status over the years and is now regarded as one of the greatest RPGs of all time.
