7And down it goes! The 4th Castlevania game this month taken care of in a single life, this time on Expert Mode, its highest difficulty. This was arguably the most difficult of all of them to pull off. I played very reckless and sloppy in the first stage, but I'm glad I opted not to start over. A handful of other errors and anomalies almost ended this run, but John Morris still pulled through with his linebacker strength. I was mere pixels away from making one of the worst bloopers ever on Stage 4 going for a single ruby, and Stage 6 almost cost me the entire run on the notorious platforms of energy ball death when I mistimed a downward (upward?) jump swing. And yet, overall, this never came down to the wire, having pretty dominant performances against all the bosses. It helps a little that some bosses make this game become lag city. Where was your blast processing this time, Sega!?
Played on authentic Genesis hardware. No save states, turbos, tool assists, pausing or beneficial cheat codes were used.*
*The "Konami Code" was used to access Expert Mode from scratch.
