The first run of 2015 on the channel! Hagane is a very little known, pretty tough, and extraordinarily expensive game on the SNES. This was a challenging run; there are plenty of instant death areas, pits galore, fire, lava, spikes, all standard ninja game fare. Not only that, but you can only take 3 hits before you die unless you find power-ups that allow you to take as many as 5. Thankfully, the game restores your health to its max at the start of every section, and you'll need it in some places and against some bosses. The final 2 bosses went down without a whole lot of fuss, but that rocket chase is fast paced and vital to completing the run. Stocking up on Smart Bombs helps, while using them in some key areas of the game, especially the rising spike area in the final level. I ALMOST fall to the might of crushing spikes just before the final boss, but clutch play and another Smart Bomb saved the day to make this the first retroshinobi run of 2015!
Played on authentic SNES hardware. No save states, pausing, tool assists, turbo controllers or any other cheats were used.
