8-B and the final boss fall to the might of the ninja. This was extremely difficult, and a little luck went my way in getting a clean Tate shot on the first try. This boss is mostly about attrition and patience, as well as knowing how to handle the Talisman targets. Keep moving no matter what, and do your best to keep an eye on Hiruko if he's on the ground, because his 4-hit teleport attack is nasty if all the shots connect. Going for the floating targets first will make the going a little easier, and get into the habit of only targeting the ground Talismans (Talismen?) from a swordpoint distance, because if you get too close, they chase you, stun you and explode, and it only takes one bad stun and boss attack to kill you in a heartbeat. Luck plays a big part, but timing all the multitasking is just as important. If you miss or don't kill him on the first Tate, collect as many health items as possible and patiently dodge any attacks until the next round. This guy is absolutely nasty on Super Mode.
Getting the S-Rank without any manual Retry was daunting, to say the least. I rarely miss the final Tate with the ogre, but this was one of those times, and it ultimately didn't matter for the S-Rank. Down goes Shinobi without a single death and all S-Ranks!
Played on authentic PS2 hardware. No save states, pausing, turbos, tool assists or any other cheats were used.
