I remembered something satvara said a long time ago, about being able to skip unskippable cutscenes with Dark Crystal. So I went around and started testing... here are some findings from Chapters 1-1, 1-2 and 1-3.

Doing Dark Crystal right before a cinematic cutscene (like most story-related cutscenes in the game) has a few effects. One is that the Dark Crystal attack and its FMV occur during the cutscene, causing some cool graphical effects. Second is that after the FMV, the cinematic scene turns unskippable - if you go to the menu, you'll notice that the usual option to skip scene is gone, and in its stead are the normal menu options. Third is that Gabriel becomes stuck afterwards until you retry. Fourth is... well, uncategorizable glitchy effects which look pretty promising.

I: Crystalling right before the Chapter 1-1 mid cutscene causes the action to skip right ahead to the Warg mini-game, even as the cutscene plays on. You amusingly see two Wargs during the cutscene. Everything plays otherwise normal, and at the end, Gabriel get totally frozen in one spot. Have to retry to proceed.

II: same deal, except I lose the mini-game and press other buttons as well. For some reason the game skips directly to the last cutscene in the level! This would be a cool skip, but again, Gabriel is completely frozen and unable to deal the finishing blow to the Warg. So it's wasted potential in a sense.

III: same deal, except I tested what happens if you die from losing the mini-game during the cutscene. A delayed, ridiculous death.

IV: in Chapter 1-2, Crystalling right before the scene where Gabriel gets back on the horse. After the scene, Gabriel appears back in the forest clearing and completely frozen.

V: same deal, except I skip the cutscene before the Crystal FMV plays, so that it occurs during the horse riding bit. The result is a catastrophical graphical glitch, but it fixes itself once Gabriel becomes unbalanced.

VI: Crystalling before the Chapter 1-2 level end cutscene. Pretty much the same result, but at the end you never end up in the "Level Cleared"-screen - instead it glitches up and shows as two blank pages. You can briefly see it, but then I press Pause-menu and things return to normal. It turns out that all along, Gabriel was still passing time in the dandy forest clearing.

VII: In Chapter 1-3, Crystalling as the Goblin fight ends. The cutscene has the Crystal effect in it, looking stylish. And you get stuck at the end. Didn't notice other strange things.
