Max Payne 3 - glitching up cutscenes with checkpoint retry (Chapter 1)
4You can mess up important cutscenes in this game by checkpoint retrying right as they start, like in DmC. Jeez, these modern games... I found two scenes from Chapter 1 where this works. First is the scene where Max walks out to the balcony and sees Fabiana held at gunpoint. Second is the scene at car park where Max gets into a fight.
WIth the Fabiana scene, a retry causes two cutscenes to play at once. Camera glitches up, and then the Fabiana scene ends early with Max standing idly by and doing nothing. Procrastinating much? No, actually Max is frozen in one spot and can't help it. Retrying throws you back to the start of Checkpoint 2, but all the actors of the Fabiana scene were cloned in the process...
With the car park scene, again, two scenes play at once. The predominant car park scene ends so early that the fight never gets to start. Instead the enemies just stand around doing nothing, being seemingly invulnerable to damage. Trying to disarm a glitched foe may freeze Max into the animation. The park gate also never closes and you can just run past everything... it would be a cool skip, but due to the trigger-based nature of this game, nothing is loaded deeper in the car park.
If you press a button to skip the glitched cutscenes, some new effects may happen. With the car park scene, the game goes to a never-ending loading screen, which I found to be pretty interesting.
The last clip is just a random occurence of pausing the game at the start of a cutscene during a frame things are being redrawn or something. Looks odd, nothing more.
