Cats in the cradle. it's a song anyone will eventually relate too. it's story is about a busy man, and his son. the story itself watches the child grow from being a baby, all the way to being the man his Father once was. Having said that, I'd like to point out one flaw in that mindset:
Honestly The story is fine in the context it describes, But the idea these days Isn't to "be like your Parents" but to "Surpass your parents".
Basically, If your parents are drunks and smokers, You might consider towering over them.

In short:
Yes, be like your parents. But don't be exactly like your parents. by exact I mean you can LOOK like your dad, that's OK, But You don't have to take up their weaknesses.

My Dad was nearly a genius, It's just he went legally blind before too long, and honestly, he was often drunk. So was my mother, she was always drunk. And both smoked. But Me? I am committed against smoking and alcohol. I just won't do it. On top of that, I'm medicated; So Those habits aren't going to payout anyway...
