So, I've been wanting to complete a proper 4-Zone All Zones Mode run with Monk for a while, so I've kind of been practicing off-and-on with him. Recently, I got really close (a Titanium Longsword run where I got within two rooms of the 4-3 exit)... so I thought I'd put a little extra effort into it... and yesterday, I finally got my first ever 4-Zone AZM Monk win! =)
Interestingly, I actually learned a lot about Monk strategies by watching djc6986 play Coda on twitch (Coda's kind of like a combination of Aria, Bolt, and Monk). I don't think I've ever seen him play Monk, but I suspect his Monk Gold-avoidance strategies would be very similar, only with twice as much time to think. =)
Anyway, here it is... my first ever 4-Zone AZM Monk win! Hope you enjoy!
The Zone 1 mini-bosses and boss I encountered during this run were:
- Direbat, Red Dragon, Gray Minotaur, and King Conga 1.
The Zone 2 mini-bosses and boss I encountered during this run were:
- Nightmare, Red Dragon, Gray Direbat, and Deep Blues 2.
The Zone 3 mini-bosses and boss I encountered during this run were:
- Gray Minotaur, Blue Dragon, Gray Direbat, and Death Metal 3.
The Zone 4 mini-bosses and bosses I encountered during this run were:
- Red Dragon, The Mommy, Green Banshee, and Coral Riff 4.

0:07 Zone 1, Level 1
0:29 Deciding between Compass or Longsword...
0:35 Longsword!
1:44 Some gold-farming, in case I find a Summoner or Transmogrifier shop later.
2:16 Conveniently-placed bomb trap! =)
2:29 Gluttonly Charm, Cheese, and Empty Double Heart Container!

3:03 First coin multiplier lost (trapdoor).

4:55 Leprechaun! If you pin the Leprechaun against a wall, you can get a Charm of Luck without the Leprechaun dropping any gold... but with the extra enemies around, I panicked slightly, and didn't do it quite right. =p

28:04 Panicked a bit when I noticed my retreat was blocked by gold. =p Should've dug to the left (while my shovel was still able to) and/or used the Freeze Spell... but like I said, slightly panicked. ^^;
28:11 Whew! Took some damage, but made it out of there without picking up any gold! =)
