For anybody who's interested in custom Cadences (or other characters), the official NecroDancer FAQ has some info about creating custom characters, and even has a link to the pinned thread on the official forums, where people have posted some of their custom creations:

Woo! Somehow managed a sub-8! ^_^ The seed the game chose for me definitely helped... with a few quick Trapdoors early on... and more a little later... and a Ring of Phasing in 4-1!
And wow, the Ring of Phasing really can save a lot of time on Zone 4 (especially if you know how to use it better than I do); I can see why it's one of the "banned" items in the CoNDOR League Melody races. ^^;
Anyway, this is probably about the fastest run I'll be able to manage with Melody, without a whole lot more time and a whole lot more luck... so I'll probably be moving on to another character, for at least a little while. I'm sure I'll come back to Melody at some point, though; IMO she's a fun character to play. =)
So anyway, here's my first ever Melody sub-8... enjoy!
The Zone 1 mini-bosses and boss I encountered during this run were:
- Direbat, Gray Minotaur, Red Dragon, and King Conga 1.
The Zone 2 mini-bosses and boss I encountered during this run were:
- Gray Minotaur, Red Dragon, Green Banshee, and Death Metal 2.
The Zone 3 mini-bosses and boss I encountered during this run were:
- Banshee, Gray Minotaur, Green Banshee, and Coral Riff 3.
The Zone 4 mini-bosses and bosses I encountered during this run were:
- Ogre, Blue Dragon, Blood Nightmare, and The NecroDancer 2.

5:03 Wasn't sure if Phasing allowed you to walk through wall pigs... but apparently it does. =)
5:11 Dropping a bomb inside a wall... something I learned from my Eli Phasing run. =)
5:15 First damage taken. Ow, forgot about the wall pig. =p
5:16 Zone 4, Level 2
5:19 Ate the cheese, then... a bit too late, realized I didn't know how to deal with spiders while Phasing. =p
5:30 Another spider? I think I will... run away from this one. =)
5:34 Mini-boss: Blue Dragon
5:37 Drumstick and Crown of Thorns! Wasn't thinking, and ate the Drumstick before picking up the Crown. =p
5:56 Trying to get the Blue Dragon to step next to the wall, so I can bomb it from inside the wall... but the dragon wasn't being cooperative. =p
6:10 Finally decide just to bomb the golems instead... oh, and a conveniently-placed Goblin Bomber! =)
6:18 Zone 4, Level 3
6:28 Mini-boss: Blood Nightmare. Wasn't sure exactly where the walls were, because of the nightmare's darkness effect. =p
6:41 ...and didn't even realize there was a teleport monkey there. =p
6:55 Zone 4, Boss: The NecroDancer 2: Return of The NecroDancer. Only half a heart... but lots of enemies and a Crown of Thorns, so hopefully I should be okay, even if I make a careless mistake somewhere. ^^
7:25 Ow! Careless mistake! =p
7:36 Victory!
7:39 Run duration: 07:27.95. My first ever sub-8 Melody win! =)
