So I guess I've kind of been working through the new modes with Monk, so... might as well continue! Here's Phasing Mode. =)
For anybody who's familiar with the Ring of Phasing (a ring that's in the base game, but I think isn't in Amplified), Phasing Mode should look very familiar. Phasing Mode is basically a mode where you have a permanent Ring of Phasing... except that it doesn't take up a Ring slot, so you can actually acquire another Ring as well!
I didn't use the Ring of Phasing much, so I'm not as good with it as some players... but the basics of phasing are: You can walk through any wall (other than unbreakable blocks), including shop walls (and yes, this means shovels are essentially useless (oh, I guess except for +1 damage from the Shovel of Strength!), and you have to use bombs/enemies/etc to get into hidden shops). You can't attack enemies from inside a wall (unless you have a Dagger of Phasing), but you can drop bombs while inside a wall! And while you're inside a wall, most enemies won't react to you (won't try to move towards you, etc).
Other than that, it's basically like a normal All Zones Mode run... well, sort of. In any case, it's probably the easiest of the extra modes, since as long as you're not inside a wall, almost every strategy you know from All Zones Mode can be directly applied to Phasing. Though of course, you do have to learn and get used to some Phasing-specific things (like no dig-buffering because you can't dig!). ^^;
