Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to Captain Chang Plays... 688 (I) Hunter/Killer
In the previous episode, we sank the cartel boss's yacht without involving the Colombian navy, ending this battle of, of the war on drugs. But elsewhere, things are heating up. We are deployed to the Mediterranean Sea for some resupply, but things are getting heated in former Yugoslavia and North Africa...
Campaign Mission 6: RO/RO, Row Your Boat
After getting reloads, where we decided to keep our loadout of no SLMM, 6 Harpoon, 12 TLAM, and the rest ADCAP, we left for the Adriatic Sea.
We poked the radio antenna up for an update, and sonar started plotting all the biological and neutral ship contacts around us. After the download, we went down to 160 ft, as the water is shallow and gets shallower.
We are to find a RO/RO (roll-on/roll-off cargo ship and sink it, as it was last reported near X, which is to our northeast. It was confirmed to have been laying mines. Sonar confirms neutral shipping and biologics all around us, but there are some signals to the northeast that are too weak to tell so far.
We streamed towed array and turned north so the towed array can get a sniff at the signal. It was a while, then sonar called out... underwater contact to the northeast... There's another sub out there! Given the location, this is probably the Yugoslavian Heroj-class submarine. We will keep an eye out on it.
We've confirmed that the other contact to the northeast, which appears to be traveling right on the minefield location, is probably the RO/RO ship we are looking for. We checked the signature at this range, and it appears to match the RO/RO.
With that confirmed, we started our attack run. which is very simple: one torpedo for each, activate at 2.5 miles.
By this point, both solutions have been refined and with no hostile units to worry about, we simply kept stealth at 160 ft.
The torpedo got to the Heroj first, sinking it in the shallow waters. Then the torpedo reached the RO/RO and broke her in half.
We streamed up the radio buoy to report the mission's end. Boss Newton appears to be pleased.
We are probably heading to Libya next, given that Khadaffi is screaming some nonsense about a line of death in the Gulf of Sidra again.
