Today's CDP features the next evolution in the modernization of the Gravekeeper's archetype by taking them in a combo-heavy direction. Best known for its iconic Field Spell Necrovalley, the Gravekeeper's archetype features a variety of Spellcaster monsters that aim to control the duel, protect their Field Spell, and lock down the opponents' hopes for success. You see, Necrovalley prevents any effect that would move or affect a card in the GY, which can be a major pain for most high-speed decks to overcome. To protect your Necrovalley, Gravekeeper's Spiritualist serves as an in-theme way of Fusion Summoning their best boss monster, Gravekeeper's Supernaturalist, a monster that tutors a new Gravekeeper's or Necrovalley card each turn while protecting the Field Spell. They even take this further with the effect of Gravekeeper's Shaman, who negates all monster effects that activate in the GY as well!
Now all of that is cool, but what's modernized about it? Well, that's where the one-card combo comes in, starting with Superheavy Samurai Prodigy Wakaushi. This Level 4 Pendulum Tuner alone can result in Synchro Summoning Diabolantis the Menacing Mantis, tutoring a Predaplant Ophrys Scorpio, then setting your 1-8 pendulum scales. Then, Ophrys can be summoned, summoning Predaplant Darlingtonia Cobra, and tutoring Instant Fusion to faux-Fusion Summon Master of Ham. This hamster synergizes extremely well with the Gravekeeper's, as it can summon either Gravekeeper's Spy or Gravekeeper's Guard from the deck on Summon! From there, the world is your oyster, especially once you have Gravekeeper's Chief on your board, making your GY immune to the negative connotations of Necrovalley! Prepare your Royal Tribute, because the Gravekeeper's are ready to return to play!
