Celebrity godparent helps ‘Cinderella’ soar above New York City | Girls Supporting Girls
5Thanks to nonprofit Saving Our Daughters, actress Emmy Liu-Wang shared a fun-filled day in New York City with a special guest Addison for ABC Localish’s newest mini-series Girls Supporting Girls: How Saving Our Daughters is Battling Mental Health Stigma.
This series highlights dynamic duos across the country who were paired together by Saving Our Daughters to facilitate positive conversations around mental health, self-confidence and resilience during tough times.
Saving Our Daughters utilizes influential celebrities to mentor and support girls in the real world - helping them find success in their daily lives. Emmy, who has volunteered with the organization before, adds, "Saving Our Daughters is an organization that encourages young girls of color to break through social barriers such as bullying, anxiety and low self-esteem."
For their day of fun, Emmy and Addison celebrated the rich history and exciting offerings of their hometown New York City at RiseNY, which culminated in a simulation ride that takes guests on a soaring tour over the Big Apple. All the while, they discussed their personal struggles with anxiety and how they’ve learned to rise above them.
"The best thing I can do to forget about the bad things is to try to think about the positive things. And that there’s always something in life to still live life for," Addison explained.
Reflecting on what she’s learned from Saving Our Daughters Addison added, "I can be strong and smart and brave in many different ways."
