Classic Game Room presents a CGR Undertow review of Super Mario 3D World for the Nintendo Wii U developed and published by Nintendo.

If you’ve always wondered if Mario would be motivated to save someone other than a beautiful woman, Super Mario 3D World has the answer. When tiny fairies called Sprixies are mysteriously kidnapped by Bowser, Mario and friends spring into action. And yes, his friends are coming along—like Super Mario Bros. 2, there are several playable characters. Each level can be played with either Mario, Luigi, Toad or Princess Peach, and each character has their own attributes. Super Mario 3D World brings back lots of past Mario-isms, but it also rethinks the Super Mario series by combining the previously separate 2D and 3D series into one. This isn’t a 2D or a 3D game—it’s a little bit of both. The game also includes new power-ups, including the headlining Cat Suit and the clever Double Cherry, which clones Mario with every one collected. Super Mario 3D World is one of the most graphically polished games Nintendo has ever made, as well as one of their most fun. Super Mario 3D World is a single and local multiplayer game.

This video review features video gameplay footage of Super Mario 3D World for the Nintendo Wii U and audio commentary from Classic Game Room's Derek.
