Change Your Default Payment Method in Lyft
Changing your default payment method in the Lyft app is a quick process that helps ensure your rides are charged to the correct card or account. Whether you’ve added a new debit card, credit card, or prefer using PayPal, Apple Pay, or Google Pay, Lyft allows you to manage and switch between payment options directly in the app.
Start by launching the Lyft application on your mobile device. If prompted to enable location services or enter your pickup address, you can proceed with those steps or skip them temporarily. Once you're on the main screen, tap the profile icon or the user (U) icon located at the bottom right corner of the app. This will open your account menu.
From the account menu, tap on the option labeled ‘Payment’ or ‘Payment Methods.’ Here, you’ll see all of your previously added payment methods, such as cards and digital wallets. To change your default payment method, you must either add a new payment method or manage the existing ones.
If your desired payment method is not already listed, tap ‘Add payment method’ and input your new card details or connect a service like PayPal. Once added, Lyft automatically assigns the most recent method as the default if you remove the current default method. You can also manually select your preferred default option in this section if Lyft provides a direct option to set default.
If you want to remove a card, tap on it and choose the remove or delete option. After removing the current default card, the next available method will automatically become your default.
This simple update helps prevent any billing confusion and ensures that you always have the right card or account selected for your Lyft rides.
