Thanks to Blaziken257 for noting that the OT of his Spanish in-trade Farfetch'd (Kumo) turned from Entren. into Trainer. In the first and second Generation Pokémon games exist 'magic words'. These are special characters which grab a phrase from another area of the ROM, and they sometimes vary due to different values in memory.

Some examples include the character 0x52 (PLAYER's NAME), 0x53 (RIVAL's NAME), 0x54 (POKé), 0x56 (......), 0x59 (Enemy [POKéMON] ), 0x5A ([USER's POKéMON)], 0x5C (TM), 0x5D (TRAINER) and 0x5E (ROCKET). The infamous ERROR codes appear when a 0x00 value is unexpectedly read in the middle of text, and they give the message "X ERROR", where "X" seems to depend on the text entry for the expected message in a certain bank in the ROM (e.g. 1 ERROR would happen in the Hall of Fame because it's the only message in that bank).

While communication errors persist when trading between Pokémon Red and Green and Pokémon Red and Blue, contrary to common belief it's possible to safely trade between some versions, such as the English and Spanish versions. This video demonstrates how the OT (ENTREN.) of an in-game trade Pokémon in the Spanish version automatically changes to TRAINER when traded to an English version.
