Modern computer games can't go without without quality graphics, because bright and impressive visuals draws users attention and encourage them to play. But apart of beautiful art a game needs quality animation. There are a lot of indie-developers on the gaming market, but a small team often faces the challenge to fulfill significant projects without taking account of all the game constituents. An animator is a person who gives life to the game world and its inhabitants, teaches the characters to move and feel. Not each team can afford full-time animator or an animation artist, turning to outsource. How can you explain what animation you need for your game, what is excess and what is essential? How can you find common language to understand your needs and possibilities?

This lecture will cover simple character animation tools for 2D games. Complicated and simple animation. Character animation of various difficulty. Character animation at side view and top view, isometry. Most common character behavior -- attack, damage, death, etc.
