Kaveh Pahlavan, professor of electrical and computer engineering and director of the Center for Wireless Information Network Studies (CWINS), is an internationally known authority on the characterization of wireless networks. With a major award from the National Institute of Standards and Technology, he is applying his center's expertise to the study of body area networks, which will be important in a variety of medical applications, including monitoring robotic medical devices inside the body.
