Checking out Humanify for Blender and Genesis 9
307I'm having a quick look at Humanify, a new Blender product that promises instant photorealism for Genesis 9 figures. The idea is that any Genesis 9 mesh in Blender, no matter how it was imported, can benefit from an optimized human shader that looks rad and is easy to adjust for your needs. I thought I'll spend the $39 it currently costs so you don't have to, or at least to get a better idea if this thing might be useful.
There's some usability clunk in the current version that I don't like, for example the fact that you don't just click one button to cover the whole figure with a new shader, you have to do this for every single body zone individually. Also, when you have selected a new shader, you have to select that same shader for every single UV tile before applying, so there's a lot of mouse clicks that don't have to be there, but I have a feeling that could easily be ironed out on future versions.
Currently Humanify gives us 3 women and 2 men, with another one of each planned for a future release. Note that it only does the skin, not the nails/eyes/mouth textures, so they might not necessarily match your skin tone (lighter nails on a darker complexion, or blue eyes on a dark skinned person... yeah, there's still a ton of fiddly stuff to be done, but that's Blender for you).
On a technical recording note: I tried a new noise reduction filter in OBS on this video, hoping it would be better than the old one that at times can let a lot of fan noise through. While that old filter had settings as to how much reduction it does and when it kicks in, this new one is AI powered and super smart and doesn't have any settings. You can only switch it on or off. Sadly it clips the beginnings of some of my words a little too harshly, which is why - before my next recording - I'll chuck it in the trash so hard it'll shatter its AI powered non-existed brain.
Long story short: apologies about the audio quality on this one, I'll keep searching for something to make it sound better. Enjoy!
