ChessTempo Difficulties Explained (Easy vs. Medium vs. Hard):
"'Hard' mode serves up problems targeted at your current rating level, so on average, problems rating will match your own rating. The default 'medium' difficulty gives problems that are on average 100 rating points below your current rating, and 'easy' gives problems that are on average 200 rating points below your current rating.
