INTRODUCTION:
Can you race/make it across Los Angeles from Malibu to Laguna in this wheel spinning, rubber burning, hand-brake pulling, garage stopping all action game. Hop into your Classic 59 Chevy Belair, with its massive V8 engine and make it from Malibu to Laguna in time to meet your girlfriend, who will be waiting for you outside Rubys' diner.

But beware: some of your friends would love to get there first and are racing against you trying to beat you at every turn. At the start you can choose the type of car you wish to race/drive and its colour. Along the way are a number of repair shops where you can pull in for a new bumper, new tyres, nitro boost (for better acceleration), fuel injection (to increase your top speed), and automatic gears. The game travels through different levels, scenery and with a variety of natural hazards to avoid, including tunnels you will have to drive through.

To be first at the diner, you must beat them all whilst keeping your car in good condition; otherwise you will lose power and your speed will be reduced. So choose your motor and get started. At the end awaits an empty parking space outside the Laguna diner. Are you skilled enough to get there on time?

REVIEW:
This game has four levels with four sections, so you have to race through 16 different locations to get to Ruby’s diner. All levels are nice looking with some fine variations, nice details and great use of color. On some of the levels there is also tunnels to race through.

The game is best played on the keyboard, not using the break pedal, but releasing the gas pedal to slow down instead. The scaling and framerate is very good and this is a great racing game for the Spectrum, but the random pop up of the opponents could use some fine tuning – sometimes there can come two opponents so close that it is impossible to get past, and the cars also seems a little too big for the road, so you have to drive very accurate.

Still a very good and nice looking racing game with a fine sense of speed, and the fact that it was released as a budget title does not make the overall any worse.
