China's Global Opportunities Are Expanding (Global Connections)
'China's Global Opportunities Are Expanding'; How is China Taking Advantage of Those Opportunities (Global Connections). The host for this show was Jay Fidell. The guest was Roopmati Khandekar.
The discussion was: Roopmati Khandekar, geopolitical analyst, helps us understand the efforts China is making to create and adjust to the new world order. Its involvement with BRICS, Putin and the Global South. Its treatment of the Uyghurs made it look anti-Islamic, but its current pro-Pakistan stance may show otherwise. The Islamic states are extremely important for China, especially for its Belt Road Initiative and the China Pakistan economic corridor. How does this comport with China's aggressive moves in the South Pacific. Trump's tariff war has shaken China; workers dependent on manufacturing are losing their jobs and salaries. Companies like Apple are shifting to nearby hubs like India. China is trying to adjust to global changes to maintain or increase its leverage. How will it deal with Trump's trade war and vendetta. How will it change its image to the world. What opportunities has Trump opened for it, and how is it taking advantage of those opportunities.
The takeaway was: China is taking advantages of the opportunities available to it in today's changing global order. We need to follow what China is doing economically and strategically. At the same time, we need to follow Trump's tariff and trade war against China and how that changes the relationship.
