ChristMaster System Advent Countdown - Day 17
I hope you are all happy, safe & healthy whatever challenges you are facing right now.
First - apologies for the intro - I was away this weekend so early Saturday morning I captured video for Power Strike & Quartet, filmed the Advent In intro & took pics. Thought I'd copied the pics & this footage across to my laptop but had only got the ones for Power Strike. So had to improvise. I'm back home tomorrow so normal service should resume!

Fans of my channel may remember I did a GameBoy Advent Countdown a couple of years back & a Jagvent Calendar last year - a different mystery game each day of December. I thought I'd do something a similar this year for the Sega Master System - a console I have lots of fond memories of.
I won't reveal the game in the Title but in the Description.......well that's a different matter. Does anyone other than me actually read them?
This is Quartet by Sega. Originally this was a 4 player game in the arcades - hence the name but when converted to the Master System it became a two player game (confusingly they also released a 2 player only version of the arcade game into arcades confusingly called Quartet 2 :-) )in Japan it's called Double Target: The Sleeping Cynthia. When ported to the Master System obviously some cutbacks were needed in terms of players & levels etc.
The game works differently to what you might expect if you've seen screenshots. The levels are a little different to usual & the goal is to traverse the levels, pick up points/destroy enemies (although you can just avoid most enemies) defeat a boss to get a key & then locate the exit. Love the jet pack you can pick up & it changes the game.
Your timer is also your energy - get hit & it depletes but it always counts down. Run out of time & lose a life. You can pick up Added Time icons.
Good graphics & catchy music make this another superb game for the system.
This is my original PAL copy from back in the day played through a Powerbase convertor on my CDX/MultiMega through a Retrotink 5X for ease of capture.
Expect a different Master System game every day. Happy Christmas!
As always if you enjoy this video let me know. As always this is running on original hardware. Also let me know if there are particular games or systems you'd like to see.
As always this is uploaded under the Fair Use Policy - no money is being made from this video.
