Part 15: Escape the Blackbird
Due to Dalton’s interference, we get captured and sent to the Blackbird. To make matters we lost our gear, items and cash. If you have Ayla on your party, then you’ll have something to fight back against them. We also learn that Dalton has been making modifications to the Epoch.
Our first priority is to regain our gear. Getting your partner’s gear can help them get into battle. Once you do it for everyone, focus on getting your inventory and cash back. Afterwards, head to the end where you’ll be on the Blackbird’s wing. You will be up against enemies similar to where you fight them at Mt. Woe. You need high accuracy if you want to take them down to get experience and tech points. Otherwise, expect to have items and techs prohibited.
After a while, you will face off against a Golem Overlord. The boss won’t attack you. At all! Use your strongest Techs to take it down but after a while, it’ll retreat. Eventually Dalton will fly on the Epoch and attack you. And now you have a fight against him. Use your strongest Techs and heal when necessary. Dalton has some strong attacks but if you are trained, you’ll manage. He’ll try to summon the Golem Overlord only to get sucked in. With Dalton defeated, we focus on taking out the Blackbird and with it his rule comes to an end.
With the world free, we head to North Cape to meet up with Magus. We learn a lot from him. As Lavos is summoned, Janus along with the Sages get sent all over time. Gaspar ends up in the End of Time, Belthasar is sent to the Future and Melchoir in the present. As for Magus, or Janus as it were, he ended up in the Middle Ages before 600 AD. It’s at this moment you can choose to fight him. If you choose not to, leave and then he joins you.
If you choose to fight him and if you have Frog in your party, it’s a one-on-one battle. Use Leap Slash to deal major damage. Magus isn’t that hard but if you are at low health, use Cure II. After a while, you will beat him and with his last breath, he tells us to seek out Gaspar. He leaves behind Schala’s Pendant.
But since we have Magus in our party, it’s time for us to move forward. There’s One Last Gambit we must make and it happens in Part 16.
