Upon rescuing Queen Leene (and thus her descendant, Marle), Frog leaves the party, saying he is unfit to be a hero. Crono, Marle, and Lucca return home through a time gate, which connects a location through two time periods - in their case, 1000 AD and 600 AD. Lucca returns home to learn what she can about the phenomenon, while Crono goes to escort Marle back to the palace through the beautiful world around them.
