Ahead of us lies the entrance to a cave where the Excalibur waits for someone to draw it ouf of the stone and become king of Camelot... wait, wrong story... actually it's not much different. Two small boys who are more than meets the eye are the keepers of the Masamune and they need to test our strength before they can give to us. We fight them in two different forms. In their first form, they're on their own, X-Striking everyone who attacks them. Once one of them is out of health, they fuse to become the united Masa&Mune. This might be the first serious boss of the game, indicated by the alternative, "half-epic" boss music. Masa&Mune has got moderately strong physical attacks but the real thing to watch out for is the Tornado. Sometimes, he will start to channel Tornado energy and while doing so, he will not attack. Instead, he will counterattack every hit with Slash (like the one Crono uses) and eventually unleash a powerful Tornado, dealing 100ish damage to the whole party. This attack can be negated by using Slash on him when he's storing energy to revert him back to his normal fighting mode. Eventually, the boss surrenders and we get the Masamune... or at least a part of it since the sword seems to be broken. Bummer!
