Masa and Mune take us out of that area so we can visit Tata who admits that he is indeed not a hero and that he merely found the Hero Medal, so he gives it to us. We then enter the Cursed Woods and find the cool frog dude who helped us save the queen before. He seems to be the real hero everybody is waiting for but he thinks of himself as unworthy to wield the Masamune. At least we can get the missing half of the sword from his cave and return to Melchior in Medina Village (By the way, the Nu that I fought while leaving the Cursed Woods is an extremely rare enemy who always reduces a characters HP to 1, so it can't kill anybody; still, it's got a lot of health so the fight wasn't worth it). It really seems that Melchior is more than just an ordinary weapon smith. He tells us to find some Dreamstone, a prehistoric mineral as we're told by the old man in the End of Time, to repair the Masamune. So it seems like we need to travel waaaay back in time to find some.
