CiB Game Boy Theater - Lamborghini American Challenge and Hook (Episode 63)
1The Original Game Boy is one of the biggest 'game changers' in the history of video games, and essentially ushered in the popularity of handheld games. There are many games that will be classic forever. There are, however, a much, much higher number of simply awful, forgettable, or downright weird games. CiB Game Boy Theater shows you some of the games you might not (and shouldn't be...) familiar with.
I have to admit, when I picked out the two games for this video, I thought Lamborghini would be the throwaway one, and Hook would be the passable game, but... here we are.
Lamborghini American Challenge is a more than decent racer. The graphics are very impressive for the Game Boy, and the career mode is more than expected. Don't stare at the side of the screen or your eyes will fall out, but besides that, this is a very fun experience. I'm impressed... Titus? The same people who brought out Superman 64? Wow, lol.
How hard is it to make a decent Game Boy platformer? Apparently, harder than you would think, because Hook is simply awful. I didn't have -high- expectations coming into this one, but it really scratches every single bad game itch: terrible weapon, level design that makes you ask 'where am I going?', too difficult, and overall just blah. Avoid this one. Thanks for watching!
