The Original Game Boy is one of the biggest 'game changers' in the history of video games, and essentially ushered in the popularity of handheld games. There are many games that will be classic forever. There are, however, a much, much higher number of simply awful, forgettable, or downright weird games. CiB Game Boy Theater shows you some of the games you might not (and shouldn't be...) familiar with.

Solar Striker is one of those games that would have been amazing to own in the early 90s --- a vertical space shooter that isn't half bad AND can be taken on-the-go? Count me in. Comparing it to what is out nowadays is obviously going to leave you underwhelmed, but this is a nice, simple, solid Game Boy title.

Let's flip the script and go to one of the more complicated Game Boy titles we've seen on here - Sword of Hope. Sword of Hope is one of -those- RPGs where you have to individually perform every action. I really appreciate what these games did, but I have a beast of a time playing them. As ambitious as this game is, I found myself, even in messing around with it for 10 minutes, getting confused as to which direction I was going. Early 90s Game Boy owners who also loved RPGs probably got a hoot out of this one, but I can't even begin to play real old-school RPGs like this, lest my brain melt. Thanks for watching!
