CiB Let's Try - Earthworm Jim 3D (N64)
Earthworm Jim 3D was released on November 4, 1999 as a Nintendo 64 exclusive. It was developed by VIS Interactive, who designed Evil Dead: Fist Full of Bombstick and State of Emergency. It was published by Rockstar Games, which is such a cool piece of information.
Earthworm Jim 3D has been making the rounds on Youtube recently (a Matt McMuscles 'What Happened?' video, as well as the most recently Angry Video Game Nerd video), so we thought we would briefly check this one out.
Don't get us wrong, this does not seem like a great or even very good game by any means, but from our brief experience, we feel it gets way too much hate. As far as I was concerned, this game was truly awful, 2/10 material from everything I heard - when it ended up being 'Eh, it's okay' 6/10 material.
I'm sure a lot of people will take or leave the humor, and the design of the first level is very drab, but the controls are solid, there's a bunch to collect (for better or worse), and the music seems solid enough. It's probably not worth the price of admission for the physical cartridge, but if you're starved for another 3D platformer that's pretty okay, you can do much worse than Earthworm Jim 3D - thanks for watching!
