Gundam: Battle Assault 2 was released on July 18, 2002 as a Playstation 1 exclusive. It was developed by Natsume and published by Bandai, as most, if not all Gundam games have been. Oddly, this game released in America 3 months before it released in Japan.

This is a surprisingly late release for the PS1 -- obviously the PS1 was still doing great even after the PS2 release, but I did not expect to see this game released in 2002.

Overall, Battle Assault 2 looks better graphically than the original game (the backgrounds especially pop), though the gameplay is a bit slower, at least by the naked eye. From the very brief time we had with the game, there are a lot of quarter-circle inputs, and the high jump is a nice touch -- it all comes back to how slow and huge the characters feel, unfortunately.

Seeing the late release date makes the (almost complete) lack of story a bit more disappointing as well. As always, this game was made for Gundam fans, and I know essentially nothing, and Trevor knows an average amount for a Gundam fan, so this game simply was not made for us. You can definitely do worse on the PS1, but I only recommend this game for the hardcore Gundam enthusiast. Thanks for watching!
