Vigilante 8 was released for the N64 on March 17, 1999. It also had versions on the PS1 and Game Boy Color. It was developed by Luxoflux, who only ever developed 8 games, including Shrek 2, both True Crime games, and Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen. It was published by Activision, who should need no introduction at this point.

Sorry ahead of time to fans of this series -- vehicular combat games aren't mine and Trev's bread and butter. The game itself runs fine, has a decent amount of options, and varied characters/cars, but is just lost on us -- especially in Current Year (TM). Most of the early Twisted Metal games haven't stood the test of time, and with absolutely no nostalgia for Vigilante 8, I can safely say that Vigilante 8 also hasn't truly stood the test of time.

Some genres hold up through time better (2D games, horror games, as examples), and some do not (3D fighting games, action games, as examples), so it has nothing to do with the quality of Vigilante 8 when it was released -- just when you look back on it 25 years later. Regardless, thanks for watching!
