5In This Video We Are Looking At The Cinnamon desktop environment , which offers advanced innovative features while still maintaining the traditional user experience in a way and developed by Linux Mint , has been announced as version 6.4.0. The new version, announced by Clement Lefebvre on github.com , has thus been made available. It is reported that 1 file change has been made in the version. The Cinnamon 6.4 desktop environment, which is said to be used by default in the upcoming Linux Mint 22.1 “Xia” version, which is expected to be released in late December 2024, close to the Christmas holiday, has thus been made available. The new version, which comes with a renewed theme and night light feature, is also said to modernize the media buttons and workspace OSDs. The new version, which comes with a new darker and more contrasting default theme, is stated to have rounded elements in the theme, redesigned modal dialog boxes, support for panel highlights, support for colored buttons in dialog boxes, and a gap between applications and the panel. The new default Cinnamon theme also includes updated styling for the calendar app and power app menu, updated switch styling to match the new background color, and reduced horizontal padding on notification buttons. Cinnamon 6.4 is also said to include a built-in night light feature in the display settings to help reduce eye strain when working at night on the computer, a rewritten “Force Quit” dialog in Clutter that will appear when an app is frozen and no longer responding, and a new status app. Cinnamon 6.4 adds support for more battery device labels and icons in the power settings.
