12The time to take the fight to the Sultans of the east has come; their forces are weak, and distracted by the Nestorian Mongols that are expanding in Persia. This will be for fourth and final holy war for Cibyrrhaeot, and I will win it!
The Komnenoi ruled the Byzantine Empire for several generations, having their share of good emperors (Alexios I) and bad (Andronikos I) before being deposed by the Angeloi. They survived in the northern reaches of Anatolia, establishing the Kingdom of Trebizond in 1204. While they always claimed the throne of Constantinople, they never reclaimed the empire, eventually succumbing to the Ottoman Turks in 1475. I intend to succeed where they failed; I will reclaim the Purple, and begin a second Komnenian Restoration!
