Clair Obscur (Solo Character, No Attributes, No Lumina) Ep. 6 - Goblu
First off I want to say, this is my favorite song in the game. It will play anytime you fight Goblu or one of it's clones. SKIP TO 1:34 to skip the intro.
I'm using Lune this time. I kind of wrote her off in the early game as being a bit worse than Maelle and Gustav, but she actually can pack a real punch. Initially I was going to try to use some sort of Burn build, using the burns to deal with the excess shields. And this was kind of working. But i eventually experimented with different builds and landed with what i have here.
Goblu will use 2 different attacks mostly. A Jump attack and a Combo attack. Jump will hit 3 times, with the last hit being a bit tricky with the timing. The combo attack is just 2 physical hits. If you manage to parry all attacks in a string, you get a counter attack. I make a few mistakes, but for the most party i get most of the counter attacks. It's better to counter the 2 hit combo as it's a single character counter which deals more damage vs the whole party counter which deals about 1/3 the damage.
Goblu is weak Lightning damage so i have a couple of options. Thunder does pretty decent damage, however it's a but pricey in terms of AP cost at 5 per cast. It can be a bit tough to maintain that much AP. Instead I opt for Electrify. It only costs 1 AP, but more importantly, it gives Lune 2 stains instead of 1. This let's me set up another attack I have called Mayhem, An attack that does damage 1 time for each Stain Lune has, and it will be the same element as the stain it consumes. So in total we get 4 really nice Thunder elemental hits.
Goblu has another mechanic where it brings up flowers and he will conuime their power to either get stronger or get shields. Blue flowers grant shields, and red ones increase it's damage. You can deal with this by shooting them while they're open. By choosing to parry every attack rather than dodge, we gain significantly more AP in between turns. It's a high risk, but a high reward. When Goblu gets close to death, he adds a bunch more flowers. More than you can really handle, so it's best to just ignore them and go for the kill. That said at this point, any attack will 1 shot you so you absolutely have to play perfectly. I lost many attempts to missing a parry when he's fully powered up. Also at this stage, his attacks do more hits, so you need to parry more. I opt to start dodging as it's safer and I lost too many attempts already.
