Having briefly tested the TurboGrafx, Nintendo DS and Windows versions at various points during the last few months, I thought I'd check out the DOS port of Ys 1 as well. Although the original NEC version is technically also a PC-based Ys, the DOS Ys is slightly different and probably the ugliest version available of this Falcom classic. The only thing which truly detracts from the experience, though, is the predictably pathetic PC Speaker sound.
