An interesting tidbit about Romancing SaGa 2 is the Cumberland scenario. The Emperor is a guest in this kingdom, and shortly after your arrival, the monarch is assassinated. Furthermore, the Littlefinger-esque Chancellor is pitting the king's children against one another, and the Great Wall has been infiltrated by monsters!

All of the above things are easily handled. The problem comes with the Spriggan stationed outside of the castle. It does not scale, unlike most enemy battles in this game. I spent a ridiculous amount of time grinding the hell out of the game so I could beat this monster, and boy did I.

This scenario happens with or without you around if the Emperor dies while in Cumberland, leaves the country, or even if you just ignore the invitation altogether. Even if one of these things end up happening, the completion of the Cumberland scenario means the country is added to the Empire.


This is another example of me being a masochist and wanting to do something really hard to pull off. hah

Cyfreet is a pain. I also had quite a few LP injuries because of that Spriggan.

If you beat the Spriggan but head to the inn to heal, then the Spriggan will be back. That is what cost me three of my five party members, as they permadied from the life point damage. Oh well. At least it gave me a chance to get new party members since there wasn't a generational advance.
