Weapons grade! Just wrap an environmental puzzle around a button. Works every time!

Just for a matter of record, it doesn't matter who you play with.

I will reiterate: the Gooigi player needs their own copy of the game and their own file that has cleared the basic training room and returned to the lab to hear Future E. Gadd's spiel about Gooigi... THEN and only then can both players initiate multiplayer protocols.

Despite having their own game and save data by necessity, the Gooigi will gain no game progress at all, simply persisting as a passing phantom presence within the "host" Luigi's game.

Honestly, you might be best served by just playing the gallery multiplayer against bosses if you wanted the leanest essential experience without all the wonky extra artifice.

...but then you couldn't wander around the mansion with a buddy in real time!

---

For the record, yes it plays the same cutscene very time you re-enter the mansion. Yes you can skip it. But just think... what would Gooigi do?!

Anyway, as an aside for why the connecting client 3DS changed names... and what the heck was going on in a hallway with seemingly nothing happening... ... ... just blame it on troubleshooting SLIGHTLY faulty hardware.

(The first one had a faulty charging port, THIS one has an occasionally dodgy R button, which is kinda important in a game where you press R to use the Poltergust 3000's primary function. But more importantly... what is it with DS and 3DS systems and accumulating dust in the shoulder button sensors that you need to blow out with compressed air? ...no? ...is that one just me? ... ... ...it happened to my O.G. Dual Scream system, too!)

---

One of this game's many mysteries... a totally useless basement! For now, anyway. Please ignore the misleading off-key rendition of the game's main theme. Do NOT ignore the speedy spirit. (This is actually the ONLY way to get this one! ...but... y'know, you have a good 70% of the game as opportunity to claim it, so whatever.)

Duh, you goo-heads! Check the map more carefully! There was an unlocked door all along, and you missed it! Now hit the showers and shake it off! Literally. There's some grabby ghoulies in there. Don't get caught unaware!

---

In an interesting twist that I had forgotten, we've got some tiny dancers... but they're quite shy without their ballroom masks.

They're merely warming the stage before the main event can apparate:

The Floating Whirlindas, the Dancing Couple

They're nothing especially special, despite all their pomp and circumstance... just catch 'em distracted by the dance and they'll be ripe for the plucking.

---

Far more interesting, however... mirror tricks! Trapdoors! Who could resist a button to be pressed?! Especially if you have to go through extra EFFORT to press it?

My only random thought along the way is that sucking up cloth and clothlike objects seems harder than I remembered. Or at least harder than it ended up being in the sequels. Finicky little things just don't want to go!

... ... ...and there we go. Good job. Nice. You broke it, Luigi. You let loose the horrors within.

Um... the horrors that were already here. Already wreaking havoc. So. Maybe not. But they DID fool you! Feel the fool! You've been made!

...I have absolutely no idea what the big idea was here, because it honestly makes no sense to me. But act surprised! Boo!
