This dungeon is pretty notorious as far as Code Vein stages go, for a handful of reasons. For one, in a game that already wears its inspirations on its sleeve, the Cathedral of the Sacred Blood is really reminiscent of Dark Souls in terms of its visual design, minus the fact that its bright white appearance seems almost unfinished, even if it is quite striking. Another reason is that its design is emblematic of one of Code Vein's biggest shortcomings: the environments are pretty universally low on asset variety, making large areas appear very samey in a way that makes rooms easily blend in with one another. Finally, for both of those previous reasons, the Cathedral is notorious for being a point where players lose interest in the game because of how ~annoying~ it is to navigate; it's a dungeon intentionally designed to be a confusing labyrinth in a game that's full of unintentionally confusing labyrinths. Call me a Cathedral Apologist (and a Code Vein Apologist), though, because I don't think that this dungeon is that bad, and I think it's a pretty fun change of pace compared to the rest of the game, even if, yeah, it may take you a few sweeps to figure out where you're going... which is most of what this episode is.
