Collecting RPGs in 2018 & 2019
Collecting video games has changed quite a bit in the last few years, and finding good deals is more difficult than it used to be. A lot of the places that used to have great deals for collectors are now too expensive, and finds are to uncommon. Collecting has gotten more competitive, and as a result the best places to go have changed, and the method for getting those good deals have also changed.
Thrift shops used to be a great place for video game huntin, and depending on where you are, they may still be! However, recently many thrift shops have shifted gears to cater to a more affluent clientel, which means things are more expensive, sometimes costing more than double retail prices. Thrift shops still slip up once in a while, but the chances of that happening are getting more and more slim.
I find that most of my collecting these days happens in pawn shops, because their prices are flexible and the salespeople are motivated. This means you can spend less on bolstering your game collection, and get the good deals you're looking for.
