Alterna Comics
The small comics Publisher will be rolling out their Printing Partnership Program later this month. The program was announced back in August, and will allow independent comic creators the chance to get their project printed in color onto newsprint, just like many comics were before the 21st century. Thanos #1
Thanos is getting a prequel series that is set to explore his comic book relationship to Gamora, which is QUITE different from what we get in the movies. Writer Tini Howard and artist Ariel Olivetti are set to unleash the first issue in April.
Marvel Tales: Fantastic Four #1
January 2's Marvel Tales: Fantastic Four #1 was missing a page, leading Marvel to announce a reprint for later this month. The publisher will be providing these corrected replacement copies to retailers at no cost (besides shipping); readers who bought the misprinted issue are encouraged to return them to their retailer.
Doomsday Clock #9
Pushed back 3 weeks. The book, written by GEOFF JOHNS art and cover by GARY FRANK, will now hit shelves on February 13th instead of January 23rd. This is being billed as the book that officially introduces Dr. Manhattan to the story… at this point I’m just waiting for the trade.

Firefly #3
Boom! Studios got more than just Buffy from the Whedon-verse. They got Firefly too. This, much like Buffy, is a reboot of sorts. Kind of more of a backtrack than a proper reboot, as it goes back to a time where Book and Wash are still alive, but not wholly to the beginning of the story of the Serenity and her crew. So far in this book Mal and the rest of the scooby gang are on a moon trying to make a buck escorting some religious types, while also evading some apparent bounty hunters who are out for Mal and Zoe’s blood. Greg Pak has the voice of this series down COLD! The writing is brilliant. You can hear each actor’s voice clear as a bell in every panel. The issue I have is with the art. Not only is it inconsistent from one panel to the next, but some of the characters are difficult to even tell who is who. There are panels where River and Annara could be interchangeable. And there are few characters who couldn’t be more different than those.

Young Justice #1
Brian Michael Bendis is rebooting the series started in ‘98 by Todd DeZago. I must admit, this isn’t the train wreck I anticipated. It, actually, is pretty good. Not perfect by any means, but good. There is a similarity between this book and the Avengers book that came out last week in that every other page is introducing you to a new character, and that has a tendency to detract from the story. The difference is, though, that here Bendis has a real story underneath all the introductions that draws you in and the Avengers book really doesn’t. Here, Gemworld is out for revenge because everytime a crisis event happens to the super heroes on Earth Prime is effects the entire multiverse, and they are tire of it. Not the strongest story, but it’s something.
