This past Thursday a U.S. district judge, Anthony Battaglia, issued an injunction against Farr Productions to stop using any version of the term “Comic Con” in any of their marketing, after the company petitioned to set aside the decision from last December against them, and start a new trial. The judge ALSO said they had to pay almost $4million in fees and court costs, which is ON TOP of the $20,000 from the original verdict.
New information learned is the origin of this lawsuit. It seems that Salt Lake poked the bear in 2014 when they sent a SLCC branded audi to the SDCC convention, as promotion for their own convention.
Brian Michael Bendis
Action Comics #1002 went on sale this passed week, and there was an UPROAR! In a scene between primary antagonist for this arc, Boss Moxie Mannheim, and one of his henchmen, the VILLAIN calls his henchman “autistic” as an epithet. Aren’t VILLAINS supposed to be deplorable and say things that upset? Bendis has since apologized and the word will not appear in future printings (i.e. the trade) of the story.
DC Universe
Announced a new daily show on the platform called DC Daily. The first episode is set to stream on Aug 29th from 4:30-6:00 Pacific time and will be hosted by Kevin Smith. Kevin won’t be the set host, they are planning a rotating roster of hosts. This show is set to replace the DC All Access app.
Batman #53
Tom King’s latest issue of Batman is on shelves and it brings up an interesting question… is Bruce Wayne/Batman an atheist? He says “the first time I lost my faith…” but does that mean he STILL doesn’t have it? Tom King doesn’t think so, but he doesn’t give a hard line statement to the contrary either.
Hit Girl
New story arc written by Kevin Smith and drawn by Pernille Orum will be titled “Hit Girl: Golden Rage of Hollywood.” This is the last 4 part series in a 4 part collection of 4 part series’. Issue #13 (the first part of Smith’s 4 parts) is set to be in stores in January of 2019. The third 4 parter starts in October.
