Command & Conquer (1995) - GDI Cinematics (incl. Covert Operations)
30In this video I show the cinematics of the GDI faction of perhaps the most famous real-time strategy game of all time: Command & Conquer (1995), also called "Tiberian Dawn". I use the 2020 remaster version and also show the GDI cinematics from the Covert Operations add-on and the Nintendo 64 port. Even though the actors were amateurish, the cinematics were state of the art for 1995. Legendary developer studio Westwood kicked the RTS genre into high gear with Command & Conquer (Dune 2 unfortunately hadn't reached the masses).
The GDI campaign unfolds against the backdrop of a world on the brink of collapse. As a high-ranking commander within the Global Defense Initiative, players are entrusted with the responsibility of safeguarding the future of mankind. A battle breaks out over the valuable resource Tiberium, a material that has come to earth through a meteor crash near the river Tiber. The Brotherhood of Nod, led by the enigmatic Kane, seeks to dominate the world and plunge it into anarchy using advanced technology and ruthless tactics...
