WEC Le Mans, developed and published by Imagine Software in 1988

"The World's most famous sports car race comes to your home computer screen with this exciting simulation of the 24 hour Le Mans race. World endurance Championship sports cars battle through the day and night sequences where both strategy and driving skills are required to take the winners laurels. This stimulating challenge inspired by Konami's sit in driving simulator reproduces all the elements at the famous race with every twist and turn of the track."

Not much to say about this one. Compared to the Amstrad/msx/spectrum conversion of the arcade original, Something looks to have gone wrong on the ole C64. The other versions even given their limitations do a pretty good job of replicating the arcade game but the C64 given its extra abilities seems to have missed a trick. Low detailed gfx, no more than two cars on screen at once, very little track side details and a terrible looking raceway.

That said, the C64 feels notably easier as you can risk going right up to the sides without being hit. A tree will definitely take you out, but not the signs It's risky but it may be forgiving. Sometimes an oncoming car can quickly change which lane it is in which can cause some confusion. One thing in this game's favour though is that there is an actual day/night cycle going on as you progress through the 4 stages (laps).
